Godaddy.com Crashes Firefox 3 Beta 5

godaddy logoI’ve never seen Godaddy.com go down as long as they did last night, but my server is back up this morning. I have no idea what they were doing. But in my attempt to investigate the problem. I navigated my Firefox 3 beta 5 to the Godaddy site, and as soon as I Iogged in Firefox would crash. I’m not sure what is causing it, but it sure is annoying.

BTW: Godaddy did post a notice that they were having technical difficulties last night.

  • Firefox 3 final also still crashes after logging into GoDaddy. I’d love to know why.. maybe an extension?

  • I haven’t been able to login to GoDaddy.com since Firefox Beta 2. I have to fire up Safari or IE in order to manage my domains.

I even did a clean install of Firefox after deleting every trace of it and it still crashes.

  • Crashes for me too
    Firefox 3 on Vista 64

Anyone think it may have something to do with godaddy EV SSL thats causing it. I notice it crash on any SSL pages on godaddy

  • This appears to be a problem with the beta version of Microsoft Silverlight 2. Beta 2 of Silverlight will fix this. You have to uninstall the old silverlight to download it though, because MS stupidly tries to run silverlight on its download page. Any way this fixed all of my problems.

  • I can confirm that it was an issue with Silverlight. After getting rid of it GoDaddy started working.

People complaining about Mozilla releasing a buggy browser should perhaps look at the actual cause, in this case Microsoft breaking a perfectly fine browser.

  • I also can confirm this that after disabling sliverlight in my firefox 3 browser i was able to login to my godaddy account just fine.

Thanks to everybody who figured this out!
