Opening the box…
When I pulled the drive out of it’s packaging, one thing I noticed was the weight of the drive. I guess it’s just me but the heavier the product, the more material it’s made of, thus better made. I also noticed there was a 5-year limited warranty that comes with that drive, which is always comforting.
Going Green? Also, very little wasteful packaging. Seagate must be going green or trying to save some money, which would also keep the price down for consumers and save the environment.
Hooking it all up…
Just like most PC external hard drives, you’ll receive a usb and a power cord – no surprise there. The speed wasn’t a surprise either because of the usb connection. You will also notice that you get rubber feet and a stand. After plugging this bad boy in, the lights start a “breathing like” strobe on the front of the FreeAgent. Very attractive in my opinion. You can actually control the light on the front of the drive from the software that Seagate provides. More on that later.
