In the beginning, people thought Myspace.com was the greatest idea to hit the internet, aside from p0rn. Then, there was Facebook, the attention-deprived little brother. A couple of years later, Facebook hit puberty; everybody wanted a Facebook account. Now a new kid shows up: Twitter.
A lot of people say that social networking, like Myspace, is a fad. I have to disagree. We are witnessing evolution. Myspace was poorly written and could not handle the amount of users that it attracted. Facebook was the next step in the evolutionary chain. It is faster, better written, and has the capacity to handle user loads. Facebook gave us statuses and feed updates. Although the feed update feature was met with raised fists and pitch forks, people accepted it.
Our system keeps evolving from slow clunky systems, to lean and mean networks like Twitter. Twitter will probably evolve into something stronger as our everyday lives change.
As long as they don't call it Twitter360….I'll be fine.
