Redmagnet started receiving calls this morning about AT&T customers without internet access. Zack, one of our technicians, stayed on the phone for about an hour trying to get an answer. He finally got a customer support representative to tell all. Customers with Netopia routers will not be able to connect to the internet until they do a firmware update. We have tested this with 2 different customers this morning and the information is correct.
Good job, AT&T, nobody saw this coming. Just a reminder if you have a Netopia router and you are DSL business customer of AT&T you will need to do a firmware update to continue receiving internet access.
Steps we took to fix the issue:
- Reset the router to factory default settings
- Log into the Netopia router, and check for the firmware update. At this point you should be on AT&T’s internal network to download the router’s new firmware.
- After the firmware installation finishes, the router will reboot. You should be able to enter you username and password and connect to the internet.
Oh that is total SUCK and crappy business practice. I have come to expect no less than that from AT&T.
Sorry you guys had to deal with that today!
