Operating System: Windows XP/Vista 32bit
Firefox Version: 3.5.5
Press ctrl-alt-delete and bring up the task manager. Click on the “Processes” tab. See if you have more then one firefox.exe running. End all the process name firefox.exe. Try starting firefox again.
Update:
The cause of this problem originated from AVG marking one of the .sqlite as infected. In my opinion if the file is infected and cannot be healed, you need to completely remove firefox and reinstall.
Windows XP: Uninstall Firefox Completely
- Click on “Start”
- Click on “Control Panel”
- Click on “Add and Remove Programs” (If you don’t see this, on the left side of screen click on “category view“)
- Choose “Mozilla Firefox” from the list of programs.
- Click “Change/Remove”
- The Firefox uninstall wizard will pop up, when you get to the dialog box that ask you to remove “remove my Firefox personal data and customizations” check the box.
- Finish the uninstall wizard.
- Open “My Computer” and naviage to “C:\Program Files\” and delete the directory called “Mozilla Firefox”.

Let's see now….I'm on my Mac and I can't seem to find the task manager. Furthermore, I'm not sure that ctrl-alt-delete keys really bring up any kind of little window or anything? Plus, when I search my directories, I'm not locating any firefox.exe file.
Hmmmmm…..
So, could you maybe write out the instructions (telling me what to do) on a napkin or something? I just bought a good napkin on eBay (this one is much better than the one I found in the parking lot earlier) and I think you could just write out the instructions for me. I surely don't want to pay $22,000 for any kind of tech support for this problem….and, somehow, a piece of lettuce comes into my mind as a tool that might help ameliorate this dilemma.
(Let's see now………..what happened to that "processes" tab on my 24GB RAM Mac Pro with 58" monitor and 44TB internal drive arrays???)
