Had a customer bring in a HP netbook that he could power on, but nothing would show up on the screen. Apparently this model has a design flaw. I googled and found a couple of solutions you can try before calling HP.
Solution A: Thermal Reset?
Some people have had luck by pulling the battery and puting the netbook in the freezer for a couple of minutes. They claim it works, but I’ve tried this with no luck. Their claims are based on the fact that it resets the thermal censor on the motherboard.
Solution B: Power Cycle
A couple of people have called HP tech support and they had them remove the battery and the ac power adapter. Then hold down the button for 45 to 60 seconds. Then replace the battery and the power adapter. A couple of people said it would power up, really doubt this will work, but who knows. I really believe this is a different problem, maybe like a bad hibernation or sleep mode session.

Google Key Words: hp netbook 2133 black screen
Both solutions did not work for my son's HP 2133 mini-note netbook.
the netbook we worked on here at the office had to be sent back for a new motherboard. I just think it’s a bad hardware design.
If you are having the Black Screen problem with the HP 2133 send me an email to oderflaus22@hotmail.com and I will send you the instructions on how to fix the problem. I am working on writing down the instructions and using some pictures to illustrate the solution I found for my HP 2133. Thanks!

My HP – 2133 is dead. Please send me the instructions how to wake it up.
I thinks -burchwords- is correct…my HP2133 has a temperature control problem. The chip seems to work well at a very high temperature.
Equipment Needed:
1 Radio Shack Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound ($9.99) (Radio Shack) ****
1 Small Star screwdriver, 1 small Phillips screwdriver.
1. Remove the battery, the 2 plastic card slot cover and the extended slot cover (right side).
2. Remove the 3 screws holding the keyboard. The screws are inside the battery compartment.
3. Remove the keyboard (it is kept in place through the sides; I used a small butter knife).
4. Remove the RAM and the hard disk (3 screws). Disconnect the hard disk connector.
5. Turn the mini over; unplug the 4 rubber cushions. Remove the 4 screws that hold the top cover in place.Remove cover carefully.
6. Remove the Sound jacks card and disconnect the power switch and the WIFI control.
7. Remove the screws that keep the copper sink fan/radiator in place. No need to disconnect it.
8. Remove the old Heat Sink compound and gently clean up the chips and the radiator with alcohol 97% and a piece of cloth. Applied a small amount of Heat Sink Compound on top of the processor chip (green) and a little bit on top of the chip next to it (black). 9. Put the radiator/fan back in place and reassemble the laptop. *
