When Malwarebtyes Can’t Run or Install

Recently all we have been using at work is a program called Malwarebytes Anti Malware. Now, we have had great results with this program especially cleaning off Antivirus 2008 or 2009 and it’s variates.

But today, I ran it a new little bot that will actually look to see if you are trying to go to Malwarebytes.org or it will also see if you are running the program called “mbam.exe”.

If you can’t run the installer….

1. Rename the installer to “whatever.exe”.and rename the manual updater to whatever_updates.exe
2. Reboot
3. Run the installer, and when it finishes, run the manual update.
4. Then go to the target folder where mbam.exe runs and rename it to “whatever.exe”.
5. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware should run like normal and remove that nasty malware.
