I hate free phones. They look so good when you sign a contract, but 6 months later the phone starts breaking down. I noticed my phone needing to be rebooted almost everyday.
Just like that I’m off troubleshooting, what feels like a windows 98 pc. I took the 3rd party apps off my phone that were not essential to my work. The phone stilled rebooted and locked up. I only had around 17MB left on the device. I heard Blackberries need at least 20MB. That being the case I started deleting old msgs and emails, anything that would save space. That still didn’t solve the problem.
So, I went to cellularsouth.com found the instructions and updated my cell phone to the latest version. Props to cellularsouth for making the instructions quick and painless. But the story doesn’t end there…
The Good -
The update did reset my phone completely. Lost all my contacts, but thanks to Google sync, they were just imported back to my phone. Creepy how Google watches out for me.
Okay, so everything is going great, The phone hasn’t crashed in a couple of days. Also, the performance is better. I noticed the phone had 19MB of memory, which is always a plus.
The Bad -
I lost my browser. I couldn’t get on the net, and this error showed up:
“Your device does not currently have any Browser Configuration Service Book Entries.
Please contact your service provider to enable the Browser on your device!”
Okay, so I broke out the google search and found tons of information. The one set of instructions that helped me was this:
Resolution/Fix:
Register Device: Click options> click advanced options> roll down and click host routing table> press your menu key> select register now> click back and close. Last Step: IMPORTANT – Pull the Battery!!! You have to do a hard reset to get the browser back.
Notes: At the time of the problem I could NOT log into my BIS account on the internet to send a service book. I also couldn’t send a service book via my blackberry.
